Designed
by people with physical disabilities! If you use a wheelchair and
have little or no upper body movement, with Drink-Aide™ you will be
able to drink water independently!
Drink-Aide™ consists of a FDA approved
insulated water bottle (HDPE
#2), a vibration resistant flexible drinking tube and a universal
clamp. The universal clamp fastens the insulated water bottle to a wheelchair,
bed or any other convenient location. This hands-free innovation is a wellness
product that allows a person with a disability to drink independently - in
the middle of the night, outdoors or even on the go.
The redesigned Drink-Aide™ insulated water bottle (28 oz.) has a sleeker style
and a more sturdier lid.
Drink-Aide™ was designed, tested and produced by people with physical disabilities
at Inglis House in Philadelphia, PA. Perhaps
the greatest benefit of Drink-Aide™ is the newfound freedom. It provides freedom
from caregivers, freedom for a person with a disability to travel beyond a
room or a building, and the freedom to socialize outside, especially during
the summer. Read about the development of the Drink-Aide™ in the article,"Ginger
Ale, Velcro and a Dream: A COTA Becomes an Inventor."

"Imagine Gomer Pyle-'Thank yew, thank yew, thank yew'. I ordered
the Drink-Aide™ two weeks ago for my mom in California. Lynne kindly spent
time talking with me on the phone about your product and letting me ask questions.
My mom, almost 3 years post accident that left her an incomplete C-5 quad
has been very reluctant to try anything new. Suggestions for something as
simple as this drink cup have been met with resistance. "
"Your cup arrived at her home, my dad got it 'affixed' to her chair,
and last night she told me she liked the cup, it didn't have a 'funky' taste,
and that it gave her some INDEPENDENCE. You people have worked a wondrous
miracle. It's not just giving her the ability to drink on her own and my
dad some relief from that constant chore, it's opening the door for us to
get her to try things again."
"Now when we have a suggestion that she hesitates over, we can remind
her of the Drink-Aide™, and maybe, just maybe, if she'll just try she'll be
surprised and find that it too will also make her life a little better. You
have no idea. If I could come right up there and hug your necks, I would.
Thank you."
